When Balenciaga, the whimsical architect of couture, creates perfumes ...
Cristobal Balenciaga began his apprenticeship at the age of twelve in a high -Spanish tailoring, from which he originates. Talented and creative, Balenciaga will soon be spotted by the big names in Parisian fashion of the 1920s such as Coco Chanel or even Elsa Schiaparelli. Fascinated by the talent of his great ladies, Balenciaga will build and debut their models to understand their constructions, which will then allow him to play with volumes by creating complex architectures of haute-couture creations.
Cristobal Balenciaga will open his first fashion house in 1918 in San Sebastián, however the Spanish civil war will force him to flee his country to take refuge in Paris where, ironically, he will become the darling of the greats of this world. The stars flocked to 10 avenue de Montaigne, the now famous house of the couturier since 1937, and in order to meet the expectations of its customers, the Balenciaga Parfums line was launched in 1947.
Balenciaga perfumes and the wind of renewal Nicolas Ghesquière
"Le Dix" released in 1947, the very first fragrance from Balenciaga perfumery, presents beautiful floral and powdery scents while offering a deep and animal trail. Topped with a classic and flashy cap, “Le Dix” stands out for its appearance and its elegant and sparkling feminine juice which will remain a great classic of modern perfumery, although it has now disappeared.
Building on the success of this first perfume, Balenciaga released in 1948 the beautiful flowery “La Fuite des Heures” then the sensual and ultra-feminine “Quadrille” in 1955 and finally in 1962 “Eau de Balenciaga” .
In 1968 Balenciaga closed its house in Paris and the Balenciaga brand only survived through its perfumes or clothing lines. Always carefully designed, Balenciaga perfumes will no longer be inhabited by the genius of their creator Cristobal, which will make them less famous. However, a few exceptions will upset this situation, such as the release in 1971 of the “Ho Hang” fern. or even the appearance in 1994 of the magnificent oriental “& nbsp; Talisman & nbsp; ”.
It was not until 1998 and the appointment of Nicolas Ghesquière for the Balenciaga haute-couture house to resume its beautiful colors whimsical and the splendor of his creativity. Moreover, Balenciaga perfumes will also be affected by this revival, the release of the beautiful, rich and complex "& nbsp; Cristobal & nbsp;" in 1998, a tribute perfume to the creator, will sign this new scented line.
After a male version of "& nbsp; Cristobal & nbsp;", in 2010 the luminous and so flowery "& nbsp; Balenciaga Paris & nbsp;" will be released. is worn, like a return to the upper echelons of fashion, by a sparkling and devastating Charlotte Gainsbourg. Thereafter, Balenciaga will offer beautiful, complex and original fragrances each new year: in 2011 “& nbsp; Le Parfum Balenciaga Paris L'Essence & nbsp; ”, in 2012 the astonishing and explosive“ Florabotanica ”, in 2013 the passionate about“ La Fragrance L'Eau Rose ”. In 2014, Balenciaga and its genius creator Ghesquière will present a rose worked on all its facets in the spicy and powerful floral "& nbsp; Rosabotanica & nbsp;".
